The story of Serve The Need begins and ends with hope and compassion. The idea of providing home repairs to those in need was an abstract concept in Dan Hinst’s heart and mind for many years - until God un-blurred the picture. Growing up, he was surrounded by individuals who exemplified the true meaning of loving others. He witnessed service-focused ministry, which helped people understand the love of Jesus because someone cared for them. Following a call to serve in vocational ministry, Dan (along with his wife, Paige, and their three children) served in youth and associate ministry roles for almost three decades, before moving into bi-vocational para-church ministry and establishing Serve The Need in 2023.

The dream is to be available to complete simple home repairs and small-scale remodel projects for widows, for families who foster, and for elderly or disabled veterans. In being willing to take action when someone has a need, we take hope. When the recipient is a believer, they praise God for His faithfulness. When the recipient is not a believer, we have the opportunity to be Jesus‘ hands and feet and live out the great commission. In giving, we open doors to sharing the Gospel with the hurting, the broken-hearted, and those who need someone to come alongside in difficult times.

Some have time, some have resources and supplies, and some serve. Sometimes sharing God's love starts with simply asking, “Who is my neighbor?“ And when we show compassion to our neighbors, God gets all the glory.

"And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ..." Col 4:3
